… is what my fabulous sister-in-law, Jill, (see my link to traveling designer on the right) said. This was just a couple of weeks ago, in Mexico in the am, in the hotel lobby, over cappucino. Husbands and kids were at the beach, she was writing a post for her blog, and I was coordinating a translation project and assigning work to a couple of translators. Ocean breeze, palm trees, sunshine outside, us in the open lobby, working and catching up. She showed me her blog, I told her about my work, and that’s when it happened! And now, here I am, with my very own blog! Thanks, Jill for (once again) giving me a nudge in the right direction 🙂
Hola, Hallo, Bonjour, Hey, world of blogging and friends out there!I’m the “traveling translator.” My work takes me to places and I take my work to places. Each time it’s such a great experience that I’d like do even more travel and translation (or interpreting). I don’t want to bore you with qualifications and titles, so I’ll make it short: certified, accredited & 15 years full-time / freelance experience. My job is conference interpreting (you know, like in “The Interpreter” with Nicole Kidman) and translation (written) and my passion is travel.
I love writing and talking (surprise!) and for me, life is one big adventure. My first travel adventure was returning to Europe from Africa, where I was born, and it continues … after many years of adventure, travel and translation, I want to share some of what I’ve learned. I’ll post 1-2 posts per week about my adventures and experiences. I will also tell you about the places I visit and give you tips about the industy. My next post will be about going to Vancouver, Canada, and a translation workshop I’m giving there.
Signing off for today … Your traveling translator
